Role-based Access Control

Role-based Access Control DLS-3 gives corporate businesses the ability to assign roles or authorization rights to individuals based on department and/or job position. All users are assigned to one or more roles. Roles determine the specific functions in DLS-3 that the user has permission to access. Business rules can also be localized that will prevent mutually exclusive roles from being applied to the same user.

For example, a new employee is getting hired. A department manager can have the ability (role) to request a company ID badge and print it out but does not have the right to approve the request. This ability can be given only to the HR manager. This is just one example of what Role-Based Access Control can do, there are many different possibilities. RBAC is designed to prevent any unauthorized requests from being issued.
